If you've been helping your students warm up for math with a listen-to-count ignition activity, here is an idea for extending into addition!
- have 2 cups or containers
- tell students to listen and count (silently in their mind)
- drop some counters into one
- drop some craft sticks into the other
- encourage students to count on from one to the other - e.g. 1, 2, 3 ...... 4, 5
