We made a Santa in our craft corner after seeing so many adorable projects over on Pinterest. I've been using newspaper and paper doilies in craft projects since I was a child and love them so much. I am not sure who created the first newspaper or doily Santa over on Pinterest, but would love to credit them if you can tell me - there are SO many amazing ones.
First we painted newspaper with red and brown watercolor - for the body and face.
After drying we cut a large triangle and glued it to blue project paper using a glue stick.
The paper doily went on next, leaving a small red triangle popping out for his hat!
We cut a face from the painted newspaper and glued it to the doily.
Using googly eyes, a pink pom and cotton wool, we created the facial features.
We chipped some white crepe paper for a snow (or cloud) background.
Using a crayon marker, we drew a belt.
And freehand cut a yellow square belt buckle.
No Santa is complete without some red rosy cheeks, so it was back to the watercolors!
We finished him off with a black-sharpie smile!
We hope you can create some cutie-pie Santas too! If you need more easy-prep art and craft ideas for Christmas, be sure to pop over to our store for some printables.
