Arrays for Multiplication

This fun math center activity is simple to prep and loads of fun for students to use in math centers, rotations and workshops to learn about the strategy of arrays to determine the total of equal groups.

Students will find the number of cookies in total on each card. Completing these cards repeatedly will help students build up a visual memory of the arrays and assist with solving multiplication in other learning experiences.

Students can play in a small group or individually. There is no winner, just lots of practice and fun!

The arrays total no more than 20 and can be recorded on their worksheet too. This printable math activity, perfect for second and third grade is FREE over in our TpT store. Just download, print and laminate.

Another fun way to use them is to 'flash' them to students quickly. With a paper plate and buttons or counters, they replicate the array from a visualization they created when you revealed the card.

Adjust the time you 'flash' the card for different ability levels or grades.

Work towards:
  •  getting faster - shortening the time you reveal the image
  • asking students to yell out the total of the array as well as building it
  • extending capable learners by asking them to double or triple the array, and find the total)

We hope you love Cookie Arrays as much as we do. Thanks for visiting us on the blog!
