Chirpy Chick Craft

Sam had to give a talk to his class a few weeks ago and include an interesting source of sound. We went through the toy cupboard - musical instruments, wind up toys, musical books. Nothing seemed right. We had a little look through some rainy-day type books and found a fun science based creative activity.

Now I am not going to give you the science, but I'll give you the cute. For now.

Our paper cup was yellow, so we were able to quickly turn it into a chick with the quick addition of
  • a feather,
  • a triangle scrap of felt and
  • 2 googly eyes.

How to make your chirpy chick

  1. Poke a hole in the base of the cup with a skewer.
  2. Thread a long piece of wool through the hole and secure at the top with a paper clip.
  3. Let the wool hang down through the middle of the cup.
  4. Using a small piece of wet sponge, tug lightly on the wool and you will hear a cute little chirpy chick sound!

If you are doing some writing with your class our Top Your Writing series has a super cute and easy chick craft topper for a bright happy classroom display! Find it HERE

Have a wonderful day friends, we hope you love making a chirpy chick as much as Sam did.
