Busy Bee Craft

Busy Bee Craft

Our little learners love having responsibility in the classroom and learning the routines that make them a part of the community. After your students have settled into their classroom and become wonderful 'busy little bees', celebrate and have them make a cute little bee craft to display and decorate the learning space.

  • Brainstorm all the routines in the classroom you have been teaching and facilitating - another opportunity to reinforce your expectations as you record these on chart paper.
  • Encourage students to share their ideas and thoughts on these routines. This provides an opportunity for you to observe who is confident to express themselves and listening behavior.
  • Talk to your students about what the classroom would look, sound and feel like if these routines were not followed.
  • Note to the students a few examples of how you have seen the routines being followed positively in the last week.

Students can draw or record four of these ideas on their page to display with their busy bee craft.
This craft has been added to our Paper Craft Collection.

There are some wonderful bee themed story books that are perfect for reading at the beginning of the school year. Bee-Wigged (amazon affiliate link) is a fun but tender story that encourages students to be themselves and be a good friend. The illustrations are just adorable. Jerry the bee goes through quite a little personal journey through the pages of the text making it a perfect book for studying character development. While reading, make notes on a chart about how Jerry feels and what actions he makes. Ask your students to identify how he changes.

Have a wonderful day friends - thanks so much for stopping by the blog.
