I hope you’re doing well and having a beautiful September so far!
I am currently caught in a delightfully creative web of drawing ideas! I’ve been working through my Softly September doodle and drawing challenge each day, and while my Creative Planner has been supporting me beautifully in the background, it’s my sketchbook that has really taken centre stage this month.
I’m loving those open, clear pages — all that lovely space and possibility!
Every now and then, though, the little grids and frames of my Creative Planner call me back. I’m even wondering if a Creative Planner challenge for October might be fun! We’ll see where all these ideas lead…
For now, I have a very simple little page project for you.
Find a Little Sparkle
Choose a lovely, inspiring book from your shelf. Something happy, encouraging or creative that you enjoy dipping into.
I used Find Your Sparkle by Meredith Gaston, a beautiful book filled with cheerful thoughts and gentle reminders for finding more sparkle in everyday life.
Open your book to any page and simply start reading.
As you read, notice the words that jump out at you. Don’t think too hard about them — just let yourself notice what catches your attention.
Jot each word into one of the little grid frames on your Creative Planner page. Keep reading, collecting and adding words as you go.
And then, of course… doodle around them!
Add flowers, leaves, stars, swirls, patterns, tiny pictures, borders — whatever comes to mind. Let the words inspire the drawings, or just fill the spaces with marks and shapes that make you happy.
There are so many beautiful thoughts in Find Your Sparkle. Many are things I already know and try to practice, but sometimes it’s just lovely to hear those familiar ideas in another voice.
I find myself coming back to this book again and again — opening it to any page and spending just a few quiet minutes with it.
And I think that’s what I love about this little Creative Planner activity too. It doesn’t need to become a big project. A book, a page, a pen and a few minutes are enough.
Follow Along in Your Own Way
If you’d like to try this project, you can use your Creative Planner, a simple spiral notebook, or the printable frames to create your own page.
There are no rules about how many words you collect or how much you draw. Fill one frame, fill a whole page, use lots of colour or keep it beautifully simple.
Just read, notice, jot and doodle.

I hope you find a few lovely words that speak to you today — and perhaps a little extra sparkle along the way!
Happy planning, reading and doodling!
