I wanted to check in with you here on the blog in case you haven't had a chance to catch up with me on Instagram, and to share a few peeks into my sketchbook from the last weeks of June.
I've been happily sketching, doodling, drawing, and creating from one idea to the next—as ideas tend to do! Whimsical children, happy animals, nature, and delicious healthy food seem to be recurring themes.
- I'd love to hear how you're getting on:How are you feeling about your daily drawing?
- Have you noticed how different it feels without a structured list of ideas to follow? Which approach do you prefer?
- Choose a page or two from your sketchbook and think about how the time you spent on them has helped your work or your drawing goals.
Five quick ideas to finish JuneSet a timer for 3 minutes.
- Write the word June and quickly decorate it with lines or flowing patterns to get yourself moving.
- Draw one thing you remember from this month.
- Cover it with whatever pattern comes to mind.
- Draw one long, flowing line from it.
- Finally, draw the very first thing that comes to mind when you think of July!
It's just for fun and doesn't have to become anything more—just a three-minute, no-pressure moment to reflect and keep moving forward.
See you again soon!
P.S. I also drew some pears in crayon on Instagram (not in my sketchbook!) to share some early drawing and handwriting ideas for teachers. They were such fun to draw and brought me so much joy. July might just become a crayon month for me—we'll see!
