Use a push pin to poke a few holes to start the spiral - this makes it easier to insert the scissors into the middle - as there can be no cut from the edge.
Students can draw faces on their sun too! As they dangle down from the ceiling they will see lots of warm sunshine rays as well as happy faces!
Sunshine Breathing
For a brain break or lesson transition you may like to do some sunshine breathing. Ask students to:
- put their hands on their cheeks, noticing themselves centred just like the sun in the middle of the sky
- breathe in slowly, hold for a second and then breathe out, gently, imagining warm yellow air filling the classroom with happiness, lowering hands to the knees or lap
- repeat a few times
- remind your students how unique, strong and patient they can be
