I’ve just added a brand new project to the Directed Drawing Fun Bundle 2 — the adorable Orange Oval Fox directed drawing and writing pack!
This playful activity is perfect for:
- letter O learning
- short and long vowel sound discussions
- shape exploration
- creative storytelling
- early art and writing connections
The pack includes directed drawing steps, tracing pages, coloring activities, art reflection pages, and four full-page finished artwork examples to help inspire different painting and coloring ideas.
Before drawing, you could turn learning into a fun fox-themed shape adventure!
- Invite students to look for and draw oval shapes around the classroom “fox den” or outside in the “forest” (school yard)
- Gather oval objects together for a little “fox hunt” shape collection
- Sort the objects as a class and explore different ways to classify them:
- big and small
- smooth and rough
- natural and manmade
- orange and non-orange
- animal and non-animal
This can lead beautifully into simple math discussions about attributes, comparing, grouping, and counting.
You could also:
- practice drawing ovals on whiteboards first
- brainstorm words beginning with O
- create expressive fox stories after drawing
- talk about warm colors and shades of orange
- compare big forest animals and small forest animals
For the final artwork, students might:
- outline in marker
- paint with watercolors
- add crayon texture for fur
- collage leaves or forest details around the fox

It’s such a fun and flexible project for literacy, math, and art integration all in one 🦊🍂
