Day 24 – Terracotta Rectangles & Creative Threads 🤎✏️

Hello doodlers,

May 24 Doodle Challenge prompt was: 3 terracotta stacked rectangles 🤎

Terracotta rectangles became flower pots, happy little details, and a reminder that familiar themes in your art are a good thing 🤎✨

Naturally, my page turned into a little planter pot with happy flowers 🌼 From there, the doodles spread quickly across the page, and one of my favorite tiny details became a little heart with glowing light beams—something inspired by the stripes and legs of a bee I had sketched nearby.

I always love how one tiny idea quietly leads to another.

Over in the Instagram channel, I shared a little video peek at the page if you’d like to see it come together 😊

Simple Rectangle Ideas

If you’re trying today’s prompt, you could explore:stacked books
  • rulers
  • windows
  • patterned rectangles
  • little houses or pots
  • layered frames and borders

Or simply begin with three rectangles and let the page unfold from there.

May Doodle Challenge

A Little Reflection on May

This month has been such a creative joy.

I’ve loved having a prompt each day built around:
  • a color
  • a number
  • and a shape
It created so much room for play and interpretation.

Over time, I noticed myself naturally leaning toward one of those three elements more than the others each day—and I think that’s such a lovely thing to pay attention to. Sometimes the shape sparked ideas. Sometimes it was the color. Sometimes the number changed everything.

I also explored color more intentionally this month, which felt refreshing and inspiring. But I’ve realized something important too:

I’m happiest beginning in ink.

No matter how much I experiment, ink still feels the most natural and comfortable place for my ideas to land right now - and that’s okay. Creative practice doesn’t always mean replacing what you love. Sometimes it simply means expanding around it gently.

And despite all the varied prompts this month, I noticed familiar themes appearing again and again throughout my pages:
flowers, hearts, little joyful details, flowing lines, playful characters…

I think that’s important too.

When common themes keep emerging in your sketchbook, it doesn’t mean you’re stuck - it often means you’re finding your creative voice and following what genuinely feels right for you 🤍

I hope you’re enjoying the drawing challenge too, wherever your pages are taking you.

Happy doodling ✏️
