Joyful Learning Through Math, Art and Play!

Monday Motivation: Classroom Organization, Math Games & Circle Fun!

Hello From My Desk – It’s Monday!

It’s Monday — and I’m feeling ready to start the week after a little Sunday tidy-up. I gave my workspace a refresh yesterday afternoon and made some small intentions for the week ahead. The math trolley got a reshuffle (pencils now live on the top shelf — ready for extra drawing and coloring time this week!).

Here’s a little productivity tip that really helps me:

👉 Before you wrap up each day, jot down three things you might want to start with tomorrow. Even if you change your mind in the morning, you’ll sleep better and wake up with direction.

🎯 Math Kit Fun: Circles Game!

If you have the Estimation Energy cards from Maths Kit Bundle 2, this is a fun new way to use them — and it ties perfectly into Look for Circles Day (Nov 2)!

Here’s how to play:
  • Pop a matching colored counter for each number in a small dish. (Match colors and quantities so there’s one for each.)
  • Pairs of students each take a counter — say, a pink one for number 18.
  • Compare numbers — whoever has the higher number keeps the counter. The smallest covers the numeral on the mat - its now no longer in play.
  • Keep going! The player with the most counters at the end wins.
  • It’s not estimation this time, but a fun, fast-paced way to practice comparing numbers and make use of those bright, cheerful cards.

Classroom Clipart Set 9 got a surprise extra character — say hello to Circle Bear!

🎨 Coloring Corner: Wagtails in the Pond Coloring Club

Last week’s Pond Coloring Club page featured some adorable Wagtails!

Try coloring them in natural hues — or go rainbow and give each pair a different color to make the sets easy to see.

🕸️ Math Game Throwback: Orb Spider Magic

This morning’s real-life spider webs reminded me of one of my favorite older blog posts — the Orb Spider Math Game!

It’s still a great one for this time of year.
