🍂 Big–Small–Big: A Mindful Weekend Creative Challenge
If you’ve been looking for a calm, creative way to spend a little time with your planner, sketchbook, or journal this weekend — I have something new for you!
The Big–Small–Big Creative Planner Challenge is now available in my TPT store — and it’s a beautiful way to pause, explore your ideas, and notice how your creativity grows when you take it slow.
✏️ What Is Big–Small–Big?
This gentle creative exercise helps you start with one big idea, then explore it in smaller parts before returning to your big picture again — refined, more confident, and full of new details. You’ll start with a large sketch, design, or idea (mine is an Autumn Forest with trees, mushrooms, and falling leaves 🍁). Then, you’ll use the smaller boxes to zoom in — redrawing little elements, experimenting, and noticing what feels exciting.
In the final big box, you’ll redraw your original design — now shaped by everything you discovered along the way. It’s a peaceful rhythm of zooming in and out of your creative process.
🎨 A Mindful Weekend Activity
- Set aside 20 quiet minutes.
- Print your page, open a window, and take three slow breaths.
- Gather your favorite pens or pencils.
If you’d like, you can also use my Autumn Forest page as a coloring activity — a calm and quiet way to unwind and reconnect with creativity when your mind feels busy.
Whether you’re sketching, doodling, or coloring, this page gives you permission to slow down and notice small details again.
🍄 Why I Love This Challenge
I don’t use this process for every project — but when I do, I notice how it helps me grow. It’s a way of checking in with my ideas, giving them space to change, and reminding myself that improvement comes gently, one small line at a time.
When you finish your page, take a moment to reflect:
- “Did my design improve?”
- “Do I feel more confident or proud of my work?
