Happy Harmony Day Coloring Page

Harmony Day is celebrated on 21 March each year in Australia. It is a day to appreciate the cultural diversity within our society celebrate the fact that everyone belongs!

We think that the absolute best way to celebrate is to have children share about themselves and their families. By doing this you are not only valuing what each child brings to your classroom but you will build class community is a respectful way.

We have a new free coloring page over in our club for you today that you may like to incorporate into your day's activities.

Some ideas could be:

  • sending a note home prior to the day to ask your families to send in something to share about their cultural heritage if they would like to
  • encourage family members into your classroom, if appropriate, to share some of their culture or story
  • read books that reflect the diversity of cultures in Australia
  • ask students to draw pictures or write about their family, and staple them together to make a class reading book
  • look at a world map or globe and locate any that have come up in discussion
  • if you are a new teacher, seek advice and support from your colleagues about cultural sensitivity and/or expectations within your school community
  • find activities and resources on the official website
