Do you have our Odd and Even Garden cards? They will help your students demonstrate their knowledge of odd and even numbers. The petals and leaves on each flower help your students visualize the difference between odd and even quantities.
There are 20 cards and students can use these as write and wipe cards or clip cards. Students can circle odd/even with a marker or clip it to show their understanding.
In addition to the activity cards, our pack includes a cut-and-paste worksheet for students to create a little garden of odd and even flowers.
Here on the blog today I want to give you 3 more ways to use the cards. These ideas will help students who need to further consolidate their understanding and link it with other areas in math.
Order and Sequence of Numbers
- place a flower on your whiteboard
- draw the flower in a line-up that would become before and after this flower
- draw the petals and leaves to match
- what do you notice about the 2 number flowers you drew?
- do this again with numerals only
Build a Flower
- use popsticks, counters and pom poms to build matching flowers
- ask students to make sure the number of petals are matched
- ask students to line up the counters in 2 groups so they can see odd numbers cannot be shared evenly into 2 groups
Draw the leaves
- draw the leaves from the flower on your whiteboard
- divide your board into 2 parts
- distribute the leaves between the 2 sides - what do you notice?
We hope these ideas help you get even more value from our printable activity cards. They're over in our TpT store!
