This activity brings together imagination and foundational math skills using cloud number cards and a place value mat – both part of my Math Kit, and now available in my TPT store!

How to Play:
"Math in the Clouds" – A Tens & Ones GameWhat you'll need:
- Cloud Number Cards (0–20)
- Place Value Mat
- Dry erase markers (optional)
Steps:
- Choose a cloud card and place the number on your mat.
- "Uh oh! A cloud floats away…" (Remove one card)
- Draw a new cloud card and add it to the mat.
- Count your total — tens first, then ones.
- Write the two-digit number in the box.

This activity:
- Supports place value understanding in a visual, tactile way
- Encourages mental math and number decomposition
- Is perfect for Kindergarten and First Grade learners
- Is great for small group practice, math centers, or even early finishers
