Editable Printable Classroom Labels

Editable Classroom Labels
As the new year approaches we will take a guess and predict that like us, you are thinking about ways to get organized and make 2021 your best year yet. Am I right?!

Having a tidy and well organized classroom can make everything flow smoothly and leave you and your students focused on the most important thing - thinking and learning!

Labeling places to store and return equipment is one of the easiest ways to help create an organized space and day.

Fast Prep Round Classroom Labels
We have a huge and growing range of editable classroom labels - from simple through to cute and creative. If you need a fresh new way to combine function and classroom aesthetic take a peek at some of our favorites.

Printable Classroom Labels can be used for just about anything in the classroom:

  • resource storage
  • sorting student materials
  • creating spaces for small groups of learners to access their individualized equipment
  • subject books and folders
  • desks and cubbies
  • displays of information
  • bulletin boards and door displays
  • name tags
and so much more!

Tips and tricks

  • don't worry about laminating them - you have so many tasks to do as a teacher - just print, write and go
  • print 2 or 3 more sets than you need, cut them and store them in a little box in your storeroom - you can quickly replace or create a new label in seconds when you need it through the class day
  • attach simply with pegs (clothespins) or blue tac
  • ask students to help you write the labels - creating a purposeful writing activity and building class community
  • in the early years classroom, take students on a 'class tour' in the first few days, point to each label and read it to the class - have them repeat back to you - do this several times to build classroom awareness and reading skills
Classroom Organization Printable Labels

The photos in this post are labels from our Editable Round Labels pack which are a good standby to use in the classroom. They will coordinate with most of our other decor and classroom theme packs too.

Please always feel welcome to contact us if there is an organizational need you have - we'd love to try and help!

Snow Friends Tracing Pages

 Winter Fine MOtor Activities
To help your learners engage in lots of practice for writing we love making big shape tracing pages. Tracing big shapes is a great first step before learning handwriting patterns and symbols (letters and numbers).

We have a growing range of printable packs available in our store but today we would like to show you some of our new snow friends!

Snowman Activities
You can provide your students with any writing implements that work for your context. We love fat markers, chubby crayons and oil pastel. We find that emergent writers feel successful and engaged quickly with something that makes a beautiful line on the page despite their limited penmanship.

Adding 3 Single Digits

3 number addition

Engage your students in a fun math game for Adding 3 Numbers. Perfect for First Grade this activity can be used in math centers, group rotations, workshop or independent learning activities.

Students will have their own game mat and take turns to flip an addition card and find the total.
To find the total you may observe that they:
  • are using known addition facts - e.g. they instantly know that 4+3 = 7
  • use an addition strategy - e.g. the doubles strategy, one more than strategy, friends-of-ten, or near-doubles strategy
  • can partition of 2 numbers from anywhere within the problem, solve this part and then add on the rest
  • are at an emergent level of addition and are counting from 1, adding from left to right or using their fingers/tapping fingers under the desk

addition of 3 numbers
If a player answers the problem correctly, they may cover a fish with a counter. 9+9+9 is the largest sum.
adding 3 numbers game

Included is:
  • page size game board
  • addition cards
  • recording worksheet
  • cover page (great for organizing your equipment and resources)

Mini Lesson to help students recall strategies

If you find some students at an emergent level after teaching the addition strategies, use the opportunity when playing this game to help them access them.

Below we see 4+3+1. Use counters to show the 3 parts in different colors. Show students how easy it is to solve 3+1 by sliding the counter down into the blue column. Tell them to recall the 'one more' or 'count on one' strategy. This creates 4+4 and remind them of the doubles strategy, totalling 8.

addition game

addition game
Here in 5+4+5 show them how the double 5 can be solved first and then the additional 4 added on quickly (either counting-on, or using knowledge of place value - 1 ten, 4 ones).
adding 3 single digits
4+7+6 can encourage a reflection to the 'friends of ten' strategy (6+4=10) or the near-doubles strategy (7+6= 6+6+1= 13)
3 addition games

We always suggest playing a variety of math games to teach and apply skills and concepts in math. Ideally, students should have many opportunities to apply the strategies you have introduced. They won't have a deep understanding of them until they have used them practically. Try to allow students at least 2 opportunities to play each game, or even 3.

We suggest a 3 day structure for math games:
  • Monday - introduce the game, becoming familiar, have a quick go
  • Wednesday - playing without the burden of learning rules etc
  • Friday - playing with confidence, opportunity to apply new learnings, student feeling successful

If you need some resources for introducing the addition strategies for kindergarten and first grade, you will love our Math Packs
