The Classroom is the place to bee!

Make a giant classroom poster to create a welcoming learning environment. Use it on your classroom bulletin board, window, door or wall. It displays the message - This is the best place to bee.

Your students will each color a square and collaboratively paste the pieces together.

  • print 35 pages - assign one to each student
  • each page shows a coloring key - color the parts according to the key
  • each page shows the student where in the poster their piece is located
  • glue on the gray tabs and follow the numbers to piece the 35 pieces together
  • the 16 full size pages into position to create the giant poster
  • add some tape to the back to reinforce the poster if desired
Included is also a one-page sized poster. You can print this one for small spaces in either color or blackline. What a lovely book cover or coloring page too!

Speaking of book covers, I have used Elizabeth Richard cardboard book boxes from my first year of teaching. They are sturdy, practical and economical. For this photo we used a range of our 'Door Display' labels to label the boxes. I printed the full size label at 70% to get them perfect for the boxes.

Easter Tree - with Elizabeth Richards book boxes in background.

I shared how to assemble the Elizabeth Richards book boxes on my classroom instagram back in 2016 when I was setting up the last room I had. I showed you how to assemble them and how I was using them - for Reading Groups, work books and even for paints!

Assigning a box for your small groups can be such an easy way to make flexible seating and group work more practical - the group can carry all their supplies with them and on the front of the box you can record the group members, or a small picture of the subject or resource type - just like I have always done! It give your students an opportunity to self-manage and contribute to a well organized space.

Creative Thinking and Drawing

We have a printable pack in our store to help you encourage creative thinking within your students. We would love to help you understand the pack better here on the blog by showing it to you in more detail. From these ideas we show you here you may develop your own activities for your classroom or if you are looking for a fast-prep solution you can print out our pages!

This pack includes 20 'draw more' activity pages. Students will finish each drawing by using their imagination and ideas. We do hope your little learners love completing these art projects. Use them as an art warm-up or stimulus for writing. Ask your students to write a story following their creative thinking time!

  • model an example of your expectation by 'drawing more' yourself

Thank you Teachers

We made this coloring page by request for one of our Instagram followers through the week. Her town are placing apples in the windows of houses to thank teachers as they drive by. It might be too late for you to do a similar teacher-appreciation-week gesture, but you can come back to this post next year!

NIGHT AND DAY ART OR CRAFT PROJECT

Get creative while learning about Day and Night with this fun craft and writing project. Together, the owls will look amazing on a classroom door, bulletin board or display.

Night and Day Owl Art Project

Before completing the craft you may like to:
  • discuss the differences between night and day - ask students to tell you their thoughts, what they observe
  • ask students to tell you what activities they do during day/night - chart and compile a class list
  • use the student recording page to record observations

The craft component has 2 options:
  • completed page (no cutting of individual pieces, children color or paint)
  • template piece template pages to cut and glue - these can be printed on color paper, or print them on white paper and ask your students to shade them.
The craft features an owl that has been divided into half and depicted to reflect night and day.

Into your lesson you can incorporate a discussion of
  • owls and nocturnal animals
  • warm and cool colors
  • symmetry
This new printable paper craft pack has been added to our TpT store - you can find it HERE
